A new bakery, Helios Patisserie, has softly opened on Commercial Drive, bringing a new patisserie option to Vancouver’s east side.
The shop opened to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a soft launch. It is located at 2896 Commercial Dr., Vancouver.
Helios Patisserie is associated with owner Jennifer Sun-Young Lee, described as an alum of the Culinary Institute of America and with experience working at international restaurants including Le Bernardin in New York, Patisserie Sebastien Gaudard in Paris, and Patrice Patissier in Montreal.
According to the bakery’s posted description, the name Helios refers to “sun” from Greek mythology and connects to Lee’s Korean name, Sun-Young. The shop has said it aims to create a bright, warm, and positive atmosphere.
The menu highlighted at the time of launch includes a coffee caramel Financier and cardamom, along with a Paris-Brest made with Chantilly Azelia, hazelnut praline crèmeux, and croustillant. The bakery’s social posts also directed customers to “the corner of Commercial Drive.”
Helios Patisserie is also scheduled to be open on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. An official opening timeline beyond that date had not been shared at the time of the report.
