Volkanovski caps UFC 333 win over Evloev and Dana White says there’s ‘not much’ he’ll reject

Alexander Volkanovski finished a fight with Movsar Evloev inside two rounds at UFC 333, then Dana White indicated the UFC would be flexible on what’s next.

The Story

Alexander Volkanovski raised his featherweight legacy at UFC 333 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, finishing Movsar Evloev inside two rounds.

Volkanovski had predicted pre-fight that he would put Evloev away within two rounds, and he carried it out to end Evloev’s previously undefeated run.

With the win, Volkanovski moved past Jose Aldo in UFC featherweight title-fight milestones, breaking a tie and now holding sole possession for most featherweight title fight victories at nine.

The result also added to Volkanovski’s featherweight title history: he has defended the belt in a second reign as well as in earlier reigns, and the only loss he has on his record at 145 pounds is against Ilia Topuria.

After the fight, UFC CEO Dana White said the UFC would be receptive to Volkanovski’s next choice, saying, “I think when you’ve accomplished what he has accomplished, there’s not much we’re going to say no to with him,” adding, “So, we’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”

Volkanovski has also previously laid out a plan for a double-retirement bout at lightweight against Justin Gaethje, calling it a “super fight” and describing it as an ideal ending for both men without derailing either division.
