Adam Kai-Ji Lo pleads not guilty to all 42 charges in Lapu Lapu Day attack case

Adam Kai-Ji Lo has pleaded not guilty to all 42 charges related to a vehicle-ramming attack at Vancouver’s Lapu Lapu Day festival in April 2025.

The Story

Adam Kai-Ji Lo, the man accused in the Lapu Lapu Day attack in Vancouver that prosecutors say killed 11 people, has pleaded not guilty to all 42 charges he faces.

According to Damienne Darby, communications counsel with the BC Prosecution Service, Lo entered the pleas on Monday by video conference. The charges include 11 counts of second-degree murder and 31 counts of attempted murder.

Lo elected not to have a jury and instead will be tried by a judge, with the judge-only trial scheduled to begin in B.C. Supreme Court on April 19, 2027 and continue until the end of next August.

The accused is alleged to have driven an SUV through a crowd at the street festival hosted by Vancouver’s Filipino community, killing 11 people and injuring dozens. The proceedings are subject to publication bans.
