In goal, Leevi Meriläinen picked up his first win with Vancouver after stopping 23 shots. The 24-year-old made 13 saves in the final 40 minutes, and recorded a key stop late in the second period against Zayne Parekh on a three-on-one opportunity.
Luke Schenn fought Adam Klapka in the first period and almost fought the Flames forward again in the second. Schenn finished the night with three hits and 17 penalty minutes.
Center Elias Pettersson led Vancouver with eight hits for a second straight game and entered the night as the league leader with 16 hits through three games. He also recorded an assist, bringing his total to five points so far this season.
