Man United draw 4-4 with Aston Villa after comeback from 2 goals down and 4-2 down

Manchester United rallied to earn a 4-4 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League after trailing 4-2 late into the second half.

The Story

Manchester United came back to draw 4-4 with Aston Villa in a Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday, after falling behind by two goals inside the opening four minutes and again trailing 4-2 going into second-half added time.

Alysson and Nicolas Jackson scored for Villa early, putting United 2-0 down, and Villa later extended the lead to 4-2 with a John McGinn penalty and a Leon Goretska goal.

United pulled level before the break with Bruno Fernandes scoring from the penalty spot and Youri Tielemans levelling.

The comeback was completed when Joshua Zirkzee scored late and Patrick Dorgu headed in from a corner to secure the draw.

The result meant United still went into the international break 18th in the standings and in the relegation zone, with just one win from 10 games.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Sunday, Brighton moved into second place with a 2-0 win against Brentford at the Amex Stadium, Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1, and Chelsea were held to a surprising 1-0 defeat by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Bournemouth won 2-1 at Ipswich, while Sunderland’s Enzo Le Fee scored the opening goal from a first-half penalty as Chelsea dropped to fifth. The match also saw Liverpool climb to fourth.

Arsenal remained the leader heading into the international break, with Brighton on course for a seventh win from 10 games and five points adrift of the defending champion.
