The Story
Two pedestrians have died following a vehicle collision in the parking lot at Tsawwassen Mills on Tsawwassen First Nation land on Sept. 30, 2026, at about 10:25 a.m., according to the Delta Police Department.
Police said the driver of the vehicle experienced an apparent medical incident, and four pedestrians were struck in the collision. The pedestrians were being treated by emergency health services, and two later died.
Emergency crews responded to the incident as a public safety situation in progress, and the public was advised to avoid the area. Emergency Info BC later shared information describing the incident as a “civil emergency.”
Delta Police confirmed the incident was not related to a Truth and Reconciliation Walk taking place on Tsawwassen First Nation lands at the time, and said there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
Tsawwassen First Nation said many people were first notified through the Alertable app and that the community would not provide additional details out of respect for families and due to ongoing response efforts. The First Nation thanked the Delta Police Department, emergency responders, and community members who assisted, and said anyone with information or dash cam footage should call 604-946-4411.
