Seattle’s Week 8 Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field featured multiple defensive plays and touchdowns by Sam Darnold and Seattle receivers.
The Story
Seattle’s Week 8 Monday night game against the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field included several standout sequences highlighted by both offence and defence.
On the ground, Seattle running back Zach Charbonnet had a 5-yard gain and his first carry of the season, returning after tearing his ACL last January. Jaxon Smith-Njigba contributed on offence as he made a 21-yard catch from quarterback Sam Darnold during the NFC matchup, then hauled in a 43-yard touchdown pass from Darnold in the first half.
Seattle’s defence made an impact late as nose tackle Jarran Reed pushed into the backfield to stop Bears running back D’Andre Swift for a tackle for loss, and cornerback Devon Witherspoon also brought down Swift for another tackle for loss at Lumen Field. Defensive end Mike Morris sacked Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams for a 10-yard loss in the second half.
Other featured plays included linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence forcing a fumble from Bears tight end Colston Loveland and recovering the ball. On the scoring side, Cooper Kupp caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Darnold, and Darnold later lofted a pass to Tory Horton for a two-point conversion in the second half.
