Bears’ Colston Loveland limited with neck issue ahead of Week 8 vs Seahawks

Chicago listed tight end Colston Loveland as limited in practice with a neck issue as the Bears prepare for their Week 8 Monday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Story

The Chicago Bears are dealing with a developing injury concern at tight end Colston Loveland as they prepare for their Week 8 road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, with the issue emerging just three days before the contest.

Loveland appeared on Chicago’s injury report for the first time in over a year after being limited during Thursday’s practice with a neck issue. The Bears are set to return to practice on Saturday, when they are expected to provide further updates and determine his official availability for Monday.

The Bears’ timing is notable because the 22-year-old had recently started to find his rhythm in the offence. After a relatively quiet start, Loveland recorded 13 receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns.

So far this season, Loveland has registered 26 catches for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

Chicago also has other injury concerns heading into the game. Backup running back Kyle Monangai had been expected to benefit from the longer gap between the Bears’ games against the New England Patriots and Seattle, but he missed Friday’s practice with a toe injury and is now expected to sit out his fourth straight game.

Monangai made an encouraging start to the season, totaling 324 rushing yards and three touchdowns across his first four games while sharing the backfield with D’Andre Swift.

On defence, the Bears’ updates include both positive and negative elements. Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson continued to participate in practice despite a hamstring issue, while Malik Muhammad was limited with a toe injury. D’Marco Jackson’s ankle injury resulted in a downgrade in his status after a limited session on Thursday.

Meanwhile, T.J. Edwards, who is managing a hamstring issue, and Jack Sanborn, dealing with a concussion, were both able to participate fully in practice.
