The Story
The Seattle Seahawks returned to a dominant brand of football on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, beating the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 at Lumen Field.
The team’s defensive performance was a central factor in the outcome, with the Chiefs limited to 11 first downs, a single field goal, and 213 yards, while failing to reach the red zone on any of their eight possessions.
The Seahawks also leaned on their offence, totaling 410 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per play, and going 11-for-16 on third down.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba led Seattle’s receiving attack with nine catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, and the Seahawks rushed for 153 yards overall.
After the win, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told his team in the locker room, "That's 12 as One football right there," and, "That's Seahawk football! That's Seahawk football! That's Seahawk football, guys."
Macdonald framed the performance as a response to recent struggles, saying the team’s process wasn’t disrupted despite losing three of four games and suffering consecutive defeats for the first time since 2024.
"Really everybody has just been steadfast in having each other's backs, trusting the people in the operation, knowing that we're going to take a step as a team," Macdonald said.
Cornerback Devon Witherspoon said the victory reflected a return to identity, adding, "It's just us being us," and, "I just felt like we're back to being who we're supposed to be."
Linebacker Ernest Jones IV said the focus was simply getting back to Sunday and executing, stating, "Nobody was down, it was just, 'Let's get to Sunday, let's go get a win,'" and, "We needed a win, we wanted to win. We hadn't played our style of ball these last two weeks, so we were just itching to get back out there and get an opportunity."
