The Story
The Vancouver Canucks dropped a 4–1 decision to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and three players drew attention despite the defeat.
Jake DeBrusk was Vancouver’s most noticeable forward in the loss, finishing with a team-high seven shots and playing 17:15, the second-most minutes among Canucks forwards. His line of Elias Pettersson and Jonathan Lekkerimäki generated Vancouver’s highest volume of scoring chances for, with seven total chances, and they also recorded five high-danger scoring chances for while allowing only one.
Leevi Meriläinen made 31 saves on 34 shots in the game, stopping every even-strength shot against him on 27 attempts. The goaltender also faced equipment issues during the contest, including a hard shot that knocked the blade off his skate midway through the first period, forcing him out of the final five minutes of that frame; the skate blade popped out again in the second period, though he did not need to come off for an extended stretch.
Linus Karlsson scored Vancouver’s lone goal, recording his first of the 2026–27 season at 5:27 on the power play. At that point, his scoring had carried over into early production as he entered the game with points in each of six contests and a total of five points in six games so far.
