The Story
A person died after a tree fell across Highway 10 in Surrey during stormy weather, according to the Surrey Police Service (SPS).
SPS said the tree fell between 182 and 184 streets around 8 p.m. on Saturday night and that two cars were trapped.
One driver died on scene, while the other driver suffered minor injuries.
Highway 10 remained closed overnight for crews to clear the tree and downed power lines, and it has since reopened with a single lane in each direction.
The closure came with the second storm to hit B.C., with another system expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the province on Tuesday.
