Vancouver has announced Thomas Muller will remain with the club through the 2027 sprint season.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that Thomas Muller will return for the 2027 sprint season.
The club confirmed the extension in a statement from technical director Axel Schuster. He said Muller has embraced “this club, this city, and this province” since arriving just over a year ago, adding that the midfielder has helped strengthen the winning mentality within the group and played a significant role in the club reaching its first-ever MLS Cup and establishing itself as one of the league’s top teams.
The Whitecaps said Muller, 37, joined the team last season and has made 29 appearances, scoring 16 league goals.
Muller also spoke in the club statement, saying he has “really enjoyed” his time in Vancouver and has felt the same welcoming spirit throughout the club. He described the team’s offensive, possession-based style as fun to play and watch, and said he feels physically good as he continues with the ‘Caps. He added that he is looking forward to what the club can achieve “this year and next year in the Sprint Season.”
Muller is a native of Weilheim i.OB and was a product of the Bayern Munich academy, making more than 500 Bundesliga appearances across 17 senior seasons. During his time at Bayern, the statement says he won 13 league titles, six DFB Pokals and two Champions League crowns, and was named to the Bundesliga team of the season on three occasions.
Internationally, the club said Muller was capped 131 times by Germany after making his senior debut in 2010. He officially announced his international retirement after Euro 2024, and was part of Germany’s squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
