Seattle limited Kenneth Walker III and beat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday Night Football on Oct. 25, 2026.
The Story
The Seattle Seahawks got the better of a Week 7 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 25, 2026, handing Kansas City a 20-3 loss.
From the outset, Seattle’s approach emphasized limiting Walker. The Seahawks loaded the box and played man coverage while attacking their former star, and Walker was unable to sustain big runs, finishing with 14 rushing attempts for 36 yards (2.6 yards per carry) and no rushing touchdowns.
Patrick Mahomes struggled to carry the Chiefs’ offence in Walker’s absence, completing 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards and an interception. Seattle also held Kansas City out of any red-zone drives, a mark described as the first time in Mahomes’ career.
Seattle’s passing game was powered by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who produced 9 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown. His output helped account for 36.6% of Seattle’s offence and set up multiple scoring opportunities during the win.
Late in the game, the Seahawks increased the margin after Harrison Butker missed a 45-yard field goal that would have cut the lead to one possession with 8:33 remaining in regulation. Emanuel Wilson then capped a nine-play, 65-yard drive with a 21-yard touchdown run with 3:47 left, extending Seattle’s lead to three scores.
Kansas City briefly avoided a shutout after Butker converted a 50-yard field goal in the third quarter, following a play that included a sack and fumble by Derick Hall on Mahomes that led to a scramble for the loose ball.
With the result, the Chiefs fell to 5-1 and remained atop the AFC West, while the Seahawks moved firmly into second place in the NFC West at 4-3. Following Kansas City’s defeat, the only undefeated NFL team in the 2026 season was the Minnesota Vikings, who improved to 6-0 with a 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
