Carolina overcame a back-and-forth game to beat the Vancouver Canucks 6-3 on Tuesday at Rogers Arena.
The Story
Nic Deslauriers, Nikolaj Ehlers and Logan Stankoven each scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-3 on Tuesday at Rogers Arena.
Carolina struck early on a setup from Jackson Blake that helped Stankoven get the Canes going at the start of the game. Vancouver answered to level things at the midway mark of the period, but Blake’s playmaking returned again, setting up Ehlers at the back post to keep the Hurricanes in front.
With the first 20 minutes ending in a quick momentum swing, Vancouver tied things again on a power-play buzzer-beater to make it 2-2 after 20 minutes. Deslauriers then scored his first of the night on the other side of the break to put Carolina back in the driver’s seat.
The game stayed tight as Vancouver scored again and the contest entered the third period tied at three despite four Carolina power plays in the middle frame.
Deslauriers scored twice in the third, including a go-ahead goal at 4:07 that came after Bradly Nadeau found him alone in front. Ehlers then extended Carolina’s lead about six minutes later with a breakaway goal that doubled the Hurricanes’ advantage.
Stankoven added the final margin with a late goal at 17:57 to complete the scoring as Carolina earned the win.
Pyotr Kochetkov made 14 saves for Carolina, improving to 6-0-0 on the year.
The Hurricanes’ win also extended their current winning streak against Vancouver to six straight games dating back to Oct. 28, 2024, their longest active run versus a single opponent.
Rod Brind’Amour said after the win that he felt Carolina was “good the whole night,” adding that “we got rewarded for it at the end.”
