Ipsos poll puts BC Conservatives 5 points ahead of NDP as undecided voters remain high

An Ipsos poll found the BC Conservatives lead the BC NDP by five points among decided voters, with 43 per cent support versus 38 per cent.

The Story

A new Ipsos poll conducted in partnership with Global BC suggests the BC Conservatives have moved from appearing in disarray to becoming the front runner, with support rising to 43 per cent among decided voters.

The same poll puts the BC NDP at 38 per cent, leaving the Conservatives five points ahead.

The BC Green Party was up one point to 11 per cent, followed by OneBC at four per cent and CentreBC at two per cent.

The poll also found 18 per cent of voters are still undecided and seven per cent have no preference for which party is in power.

Ipsos senior vice president Kyle Braid said the Conservatives’ lead is “firming up and expanding” and suggested that describing the election as early could be a “miscalculation” based on the numbers.

In Metro Vancouver, the poll showed the Conservatives leading by three points, with 42 per cent support versus 39 per cent for the NDP, while the NDP had a larger advantage on Vancouver Island, at 47 per cent to 27 per cent for the Conservatives.

The poll found the Conservatives led by 21 points in the Southern Interior and in the northern part of the province, with 53 per cent to the NDP’s 32 per cent.

The survey found 23 per cent of respondents who named a current party preference said there is still a “good chance” they will change their mind and vote for another party.

Overall, half of residents said it is time for another provincial party to take over, at 50 per cent, while 31 per cent said the Eby government has done a good job and deserves re-election.

Two-in-ten people, 19 per cent, said they are undecided.

On leader favourability, David Eby had 35 per cent viewing him favourably, while BC Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson had 26 per cent; Eby’s unfavourable rating was 38 per cent and Doerkson’s was 24 per cent, according to the poll.

The findings come from an Ipsos poll conducted from Oct. 7 to 11, 2026, with a sample of 1,356 adult British Columbians surveyed online and by phone, and an overall credibility interval accurate to within ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
