The Seahawks’ Week 9 injury report issued Wednesday lists quarterback Sam Darnold as a non-participant and Drew Lock as limited ahead of Arizona’s visit.
The Story
The Seahawks opened their practice week with a walkthrough after playing Monday night, and their Week 9 injury report issued Wednesday is considered an estimation. Head coach Mike Macdonald said quarterback Sam Darnold will not play in Sunday’s game against Arizona due to quadricep and rib injuries.
In addition to Darnold, Seattle listed left tackle Charles Cross (ankle), defensive tackle Leonard Williams (stinger) and receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee) as non-participants. Outside linebacker Connor O’Toole (foot) and nose tackle Brandon Pili (back) were also listed as non-participants.
When asked about Williams on Wednesday, Macdonald said he, as well as Cross and Shaheed, “all have a chance to play. We haven't ruled anybody out yet.”
Seattle’s limited injury list includes quarterback Drew Lock (right elbow), who is expected to start in Darnold’s place. Lock has been dealing with an elbow injury that also limited him the last two weeks, and he served as the emergency third quarterback behind Darnold and Jalen Milroe for the past two games instead of his usual role as the No. 2 quarterback.
The Seahawks also listed guard Anthony Bradford (knee), running back Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring), guard Quenton Nelson (knee) and outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (ankle) as limited. Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was listed as non-injury-related, resting.
On the Cardinals’ side, guard Jon Gaines (ankle), running back Bam Knight (concussion) and tackle Jayden Williams (knee) were listed as non-participants. Defensive tackle Walter Nolen (ankle) and guard Isaiah Adams (ankle) were listed as limited.
Arizona also reported several players as not injury-related rest, including safety Budda Baker, center Hjalte Froholdt, guard Isaac Seumalo, linebacker Josh Sweat and receiver Michael Wilson (not injury-related, ribs). Receiver Reggie Virgil (back) was listed as full participation.
