The Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden runs daily from Nov. 27, 2026 (closed Dec. 25) to Jan. 3, 2027.
The Story
The Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden will return for its 42nd year with more than a million twinkling lights over the holiday season, kicking off Nov. 27, 2026 and running through to Jan. 3, 2027, according to a news release.
The event transforms the 15-acre garden into a holiday wonderland, with light displays around the garden’s multiple lakes and festive music accompanying the show. The City of Vancouver says visitors can expect returning favourite light displays alongside new interactive ones, including the returning Dancing Lights show at Livingstone Lake, with three new shows alternating every 20 minutes.
Festive food and beverages will be available from various vendors during the festival. The City also plans a special sensory-friendly night on Tuesday, Dec. 1 for neurodiverse individuals, their families and caregivers, with 50 per cent reduced capacity, lowered audio levels, and flashing lights turned off.
The festival will operate daily from 4 to 10 p.m., with final entry from 8:30 to 9 p.m. each night; it will be closed Dec. 25. Tickets are for a specific entry time.
Ticket prices listed with the festival include $29 for adults (ages 19 to 64), $19 for seniors (65+) and youth (ages 13 to 18), and $18 for VanDusen Botanical Garden Association (VBGA) members with a valid card. Children ages five to 12 are $12, and children four and under are free with a required ticket reservation. The listed prices do not include GST and service fees. Group bookings of 25 or more tickets receive 10 per cent off, and the release notes that further details and tickets are available through the city website.
