Vancouver prospect Braeden Cootes scored his first AHL goal for the Abbotsford Canucks against the Calgary Wranglers in his second official AHL game.
The Story
Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes scored his first-career goal in the AHL for the Abbotsford Canucks against the Calgary Wranglers.
The goal came at 16:16 of the third period as part of a game Calgary won 4–2.
Cootes scored for Abbotsford in his second official AHL game. He made his AHL debut on October 2, when he was placed on a line with Ben Berard and Bennett Schimek, a trio that stayed together when Cootes scored.
Selected 15th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2025, Cootes made Vancouver’s 2025–26 opening-night roster out of training camp before returning to the WHL for his final season.
In the WHL, he recorded 24 goals and 39 assists in 45 games split between the Seattle Thunderbirds and Prince Albert Raiders, and he added 23 points in 20 playoff games with Prince Albert.
During the 2026–27 pre-season, Cootes skated on Vancouver’s top line in two games and centred their fourth line in one, scoring a goal and two assists across that span before being reassigned to Abbotsford ahead of the Canucks’ final pre-season game.
