Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said running back Zach Charbonnet will miss Sunday’s game against the Chiefs, while several others are listed as questionable.
The Story
Running back Zach Charbonnet will not make his 2026 debut when the Seahawks host the Chiefs on Sunday night, Macdonald said.
Charbonnet, who is returning from the torn ACL he suffered in the divisional round of the playoffs, practiced fully this week but was ruled out on Friday’s injury report. Macdonald said, “We’re going along with the plan… The plan was to get a great week’s worth of work and see where we’re at, so we’re going to take it into next week.”
Asked whether Charbonnet had experienced any setback, Macdonald said, “No setback. If anything, it’s going as good as we could have hope it could go.”
The Seahawks have three players ruled out for Sunday: Charbonnet, linebackers Drake Thomas (ankle) and Chazz Surratt (calf). Thomas will miss a second straight game after injuring his ankle in Week 5.
With Thomas out, Tyrice Knight is in line for another start after recording seven tackles in last week’s game against Denver, according to Macdonald’s comments. Macdonald said, “Tyrice has done a really nice job… It’s seamless. He goes in—he’s got a little different style of play than Drake… and I know him and EJ have a great rapport as well.”
Seattle also listed five players as questionable for Sunday: safety Nick Emmanwori (hip), outside linebackers Uchenna Nwosu (hip) and DeMarcus Lawrence (knee), backup quarterback Drew Lock (right elbow) and outside linebacker Connor O’Toole (hamstring).
Macdonald said Lawrence and Nwosu were new additions to Thursday’s report and were limited in practice Friday. He added that Emmanwori’s hip issue was new as of Friday, saying, “He just had a hip today, he’s going to be questionable,” and when asked when Emmanwori got hurt, Macdonald said, “I wouldn’t say he got hurt. He’s had a hip today…. The hip is new today.”
