The Story
Skate Canada announced on Friday that Pascal Denis will take over as its high-performance director, replacing Mike Slipchuk.
Denis’s appointment takes effect Nov. 16. He has previously worked with the Ice Academy of Montreal, where he helped develop elite ice dancers from around the world.
Denis has also coached Les Suprêmes, a Montreal-based synchronized skating team, to five world titles. A former competitive ice dancer, he spent 10 years on Canada’s national team.
Skate Canada says Denis has more than 27 years of coaching experience. Slipchuk will remain with the organization for the rest of the 2026–27 season to support the transition.
Skate Canada said Denis will help develop the next generation of Canadian figure skaters ahead of the 2030 and 2034 Winter Olympics.
The announcement came as Skate Canada International got underway Friday in Kelowna, B.C.
