Seahawks activate Zach Charbonnet from PUP list ahead of Week 7 vs. Chiefs

The Seahawks activated running back Zach Charbonnet from the physically unable to perform list and added him to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against Kansas City.

The Story

The Seattle Seahawks activated running back Zach Charbonnet from the physically unable to perform list on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, adding him back to the 53-man roster ahead of Seattle’s Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

To make room for Charbonnet, the Seahawks placed tight end Elijah Arroyo on injured reserve after he suffered a shoulder injury in last week’s game at Denver.

The team’s corresponding move does not guarantee Charbonnet will play on Sunday night, but coach Mike Macdonald said earlier in the week it is a real possibility. On Monday, Macdonald said, “Zach is going to have a full week’s worth of reps, so that’s exciting, and there’s a possibility that you could see him on Sunday in some capacity, so that’s exciting.”

Macdonald also addressed Charbonnet’s recovery timeline, noting the running back is only eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL. “It’s remarkable,” Macdonald said. “I know he’s had a certain date in mind, which is a really ambitious date. Those who have tried to come back from a significant knee surgery understand the undertaking that it takes. Zach’s a beast. He looks great. It’s not easy to say, ‘All right, let’s go.’ So for him to have that courage to say that and work through the things he’s worked through, you can’t do anything but tip your cap to him.”

The activation was required because Charbonnet returned to practice on Oct. 1, bringing an end to his 21-day practice window on Thursday. As a result, Seattle had to add him back to the active roster or have him sit out for the remainder of the season.
