Aatu Räty acquisition lifts number of former Canucks with Maple Leafs to 11

With Aatu Räty’s acquisition, the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has 11 former Vancouver Canucks playing or working in roles from the NHL down to the ECHL.

The Story

The Toronto Maple Leafs say the organization now includes 11 former Vancouver Canucks after acquiring Aatu Räty.

At the NHL level, six former Canucks are on the current Maple Leafs roster: Troy Stecher, Teddy Blueger, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Chris Tanev, Zack MacEwen and Dakota Joshua.

The Maple Leafs organization also lists two former Canucks in staff roles: Goaltending Coach Curtis Sanford and Assistant General Manager Judd Brackett.

In the AHL, Toronto Marlies players who previously played for Vancouver include Räty and Cole McWard.

The team also reports that, unlike in previous years, Toronto will not be playing the Abbotsford Canucks this season.

At the ECHL level, Jackson Kunz plays for the Maple Leafs’ affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones.

The first matchup between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Cyclones is scheduled for November 27.
