Whitecaps extend Thomas Müller’s contract through 2027

Vancouver Whitecaps announced a contract extension for German midfielder Thomas Müller through the 2027 season.

The Story

Vancouver Whitecaps announced Tuesday that it has extended the contract of German midfielder Thomas Müller through the 2027 season.

The 37-year-old Müller joined the franchise in August 2025 and has recorded 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 direct goal contributions across 45 appearances, with the team’s record described as 15-6-5 for 50 points through 26 matches while sitting atop the Western Conference.

Sporting director Axel Schuster said Müller has strengthened the team’s winning mentality and highlighted the midfielder’s commitment and leadership since his arrival just over a year ago.

Before joining Vancouver, Müller spent his club career with Bayern Munich, scoring 150 goals in more than 500 official appearances between 2008 and 2025 and winning 13 Bundesliga titles. On the international stage, he won the 2014 FIFA World Cup and finished with 131 caps and 45 goals for Germany.

In a statement, Müller said he feels good physically and remains enjoying playing each week, adding that he is “very happy to continue this journey with the 'Caps” and is looking forward to what the club can achieve this year and next year in the Sprint Season.
