A Richmond resident won a $100,000 prize after buying a lottery ticket at Lansdowne Centre and confirming the win by scanning it.
The Story
A Richmond woman who stopped for lottery tickets on the way to take her son for a haircut at Lansdowne Centre has won a $100,000 prize, according to her account of the moment she checked her ticket.
Wing S. said she could not believe what she was seeing when she scanned her lottery ticket and learned she had won $100,000. “When I scanned the ticket I thought, did I read that right?” Wing said.
She checked the ticket again on the self-scanner before asking the lottery retailer to confirm the win.
Wing S. bought a Max Plus ticket along with a Lotto Max ticket for the Friday, Oct. 2 draw. She said the win was “not expected at all,” and that the prize still feels unexpected.
Max Plus is described as an extra prize draw feature on Lotto Max that offers multiple $100,000 cash prizes, with the number of prizes increasing based on the size of the jackpot. Wing said the prize may make room for something special for her kids, including a spring break holiday.
