The Seahawks signed linebacker Josh Ross to their practice squad on Wednesday to add depth at a position hit by multiple injuries.
The Story
The Seattle Seahawks added linebacker depth by signing Josh Ross to their practice squad on Wednesday.
The team made a roster move to create space, releasing guard Evan Beentsen, a rookie out of Northwestern who had signed to the practice squad last month.
Ross went undrafted out of Michigan in 2022 and spent his first two-plus seasons in Baltimore, playing under current Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald. During the 2024 season, he was claimed off waivers by Seattle.
Most recently, Ross spent time on the Vikings’ practice squad, and he also took part in Minnesota’s training camp and preseason this year.
Over three seasons, Ross has played in 22 games, primarily on special teams, including 10 games for the Seahawks in 2024. With Ross joining the practice squad, Seattle has a second off-ball linebacker alongside Jimmy Ciarlo.
The signing comes as linebacker depth is an active need for the Seahawks, with Drake Thomas, Chazz Surratt and Tyrice Knight listed on this week’s injury report.
