Beabadoobee said preparing her set list for The Powerlines Tour was “almost impossible,” with her Oct. 28 concert at Rogers Arena running nearly two hours.
The Story
Beabadoobee is bringing The Powerlines Tour to Rogers Arena on Oct. 28, and she says getting the set list together for the Vancouver date was one of the hardest parts of preparing the show.
In an interview, Beabadoobee said, “OMG, yes! It was almost impossible putting the set list together,” adding that she has “a new album of songs I love and want to play,” which made it difficult to choose between tracks. She said she believes she “struck the perfect balance for a show, LOL,” and that the performance is running nearly two hours long.
Her fourth album, Pylon, was released Sept. 18 on the U.K. indie label Dirty Hit. The singer said the record reflects her influences, describing it as a return to what she loved at 19, while she also explained she is doing “another version of it where it’s even more of my influences from emo bands that I love.”
Beabadoobee described an evolution from her 2010s-era bedroom pop roots into a fully formed band act, pointing to her 2020 debut full-length Fake It Flowers. She said fans were already aware of her high-energy live performances before major supporting roles on Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour and Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour gave her wider global exposure, and she added her streaming numbers are now more than 10 billion.
For the tour, the singer said her backing band is evolving. She is joined by drummer Luca Caruso and bassist Eliana Sewell, with guitarist Jason Vance Harris, and she said Sam Everett is the newest addition. She also noted previous guitarist Jacob Bugden stepped back from the group to pursue production work.
Beabadoobee said having two guitarists allows her to shift into a classic front role in the performance, adding, “My band is evolving, and I’ve had a new player added in the mix,” and that it also means she can “run around more.”
The singer also addressed the mysterious goat that appears in the music video for her single Beaches, saying, “Oh, the goat! That represents producer Rick Rubin.” She said Rubin was present for the recording of her album This Is How Tomorrow Moves and that the symbol appears in the spirit of the video as well.
Tickets for Beabadoobee’s The Powerlines Tour are listed from $57.40 on Ticketmaster.ca.
