The Story
The New York Islanders earned a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 13, 2026, at UBS Arena.
New York broke the game open early, scoring at 14:57 and 15:50 of the first period. Vancouver then got back within one goal with a tally at 7:52 in the second period before scoring again at 18:55 on the power play. The Islanders sealed the result with a goal at 5:38 of the third period.
The Islanders’ win ended a run of games without a victory against Vancouver on the East Coast since 2018. It also marked their first win in six tries against the Canucks at UBS Arena.
Between the pipes, Ilya Sorokin recorded 24 saves for the Islanders and earned his 157th win for the club, tying Chico Resch for second place in team history.
The game also featured a pair of Islanders milestone notes: Matthew Schaefer recorded his 64th and 65th career points, tied and then passed Larry Murphy for eighth place among teenage defensemen, and Wayne Gretzky also did not earn an assist in his fifth-straight game during the season’s opening stretch that the Islanders’ notes compared to Schaefer’s streak.
