The Seahawks held a cancer-focused education event in partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health and the Muckleshoot Tribe on Oct. 21, 2026.
The Story
In partnership with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health and the Muckleshoot Tribe, the Seahawks hosted a cancer-focused education event designed to emphasize the importance of early detection and cancer prevention. Specialists from Virginia Mason Franciscan Health shared information with families from the Muckleshoot Tribe.
Seahawks running back Jadarian Price attended the event for a Q&A about his family’s experience with cancer. Price said he learned at age 12 that his mother, Jessica Butler, had been diagnosed with breast cancer and that he did not understand the seriousness until he saw her go through chemotherapy.
“At a young age, finding out that my mom had cancer, you don't think that could really happen to someone close to you,” Price said in an interview for Crucial Catch month. “My mom being diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 12 years old, I didn't understand how serious it was until I saw her go through chemo,” he added. “She was barely 30 years old at the time she fought through the chemo because she had three kids to take care of. I just remember it being a huge relief that my mom would be able to be there for me and my sisters, living life to the fullest, but also spreading the word.”
The event was held as part of the 2026 Crucial Catch education programming, according to the Seahawks’ announcement.
