Man charged after Secret Service arrest near White House finds stolen vehicle with guns and alleged voice threats

The U.S. Secret Service says a suspect was arrested Thursday night near the White House after officers found a stolen vehicle with multiple firearms and ammunition and accused threats against President Donald Trump.

The Story

The U.S. Secret Service says officers arrested a suspect Thursday night near the White House after approaching a man “acting suspicious” in a parked car, according to a Homeland Security statement.

The statement says the suspect, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, told officers he heard voices in his head telling him to come to Washington and kill President Donald Trump.

Shortly after the arrest, officers discovered the suspect’s vehicle had been reported stolen and that he had three different firearms along with dozens of rounds of ammunition.

The statement described Chrinos as a migrant from Venezuela who is in the country illegally after entering the United States through Texas in March 2024.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in the statement that the arrest happened “before he could harm anyone,” and the White House referred questions to the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Secret Service.

The statement says Chrinos has been charged and remains in U.S. Marshals Service custody.
