Canucks place Aatu Raty on waivers, creating a 24-hour claim window

The Vancouver Canucks placed forward Aatu Raty on waivers on Wednesday, triggering a 24-hour period for other NHL teams to submit a claim.

The Story

The Vancouver Canucks placed forward Aatu Raty on waivers on Wednesday, a move that begins a 24-hour window for other NHL teams to place a claim.

Raty went on waivers at 11 a.m. local time in Vancouver. The Canucks will have until 11 a.m. on Thursday local time to determine whether he will remain in the organization.

If Raty clears waivers, the Canucks plan to assign him to their AHL roster.

The decision comes after the Canucks had played eight games this season, with Raty appearing in four of them.

When dressed for games, Raty averaged 10 minutes and 10 seconds of ice time.

Through the season so far, he has recorded one goal and no assists, and is listed as a minus-2.

Raty is 23 years old.

The Canucks also weighed Raty’s background, including his status as a former second-round pick and his career 59.2% faceoff win rate.

He is listed at 6-foot-2 and previously belonged to the New York Islanders organization before coming to Vancouver.
