Sass Jordan, Montreal-raised Juno-winning rock singer, dies at 63

Sass Jordan, a Montreal-raised rock singer and Juno winner, has died at 63, according to a post on her social media page.

The Story

A post on Sass Jordan’s social media page on Saturday said she died the day before, surrounded by her loving family. The post described her as an “inimitable force of nature” and an “irreplaceable being of light and joy.” A cause of death has not been released.

Born in Birmingham, England, Jordan was raised in Montreal. Her debut album, “Tell Somebody,” was released in 1988, and she won the Juno Award for most promising female vocalist of the year in 1989, along with nominations in the category of best female vocalist.

Jordan’s second album, “Racine,” was released in 1992 and included hits such as “Make You a Believer.”
