Chicago built the margin a step at a time
The Bears took the lead for good in the first quarter when Keenum found Luther Burden III for an eight-yard touchdown at 8:47. Chicago added to that edge late in the second on Cairo Santos’s 29-yard field goal, and at 10-0 the game was starting to tilt toward the home side before Philadelphia finally answered.
The Eagles’ lone breakthrough came with 0:00 on the second-quarter clock, when Jalen Hurts scored from one yard out to cut the deficit to 10-7. That kept the game within one possession at halftime, but Chicago never allowed the momentum to grow into anything larger.
Santos restored breathing room with a 48-yard field goal at 10:17 of the third quarter, then Keenum struck again with the game’s biggest pass play: a 41-yard touchdown to Kalif Raymond at 5:47. When Keenum later punched in a one-yard rushing score with 7:19 left in the fourth, the Bears had answered Philadelphia’s only touchdown with 17 straight points.
Keenum had help everywhere he looked
Keenum’s stat line was exactly what Chicago needed: 24 completions on 34 attempts, 247 yards, two touchdown passes and no interceptions. Just as important, he was not sacked. That gave the Bears a stable offensive night built on steady gains rather than risky swings, and it showed up in the down-to-down numbers: 24 first downs, 375 total yards and 69 plays run.
His targets spread the production around. Raymond led the way with six catches for 90 yards and the 41-yard touchdown that widened the third-quarter gap. Burden added seven receptions for 61 yards and the opening touchdown, while Rome Odunze chipped in 44 yards on three catches and Colston Loveland supplied four receptions for 31 more. Chicago did not rely on one receiver to carry the passing game.
The run game was productive in a different way. D’Andre Swift handled 20 carries for 84 yards, Kyle Monangai added 31 yards on 10 attempts and Keenum contributed the short touchdown himself. The Bears averaged only 3.7 yards per rush, but 35 rushing attempts helped them stay on schedule, keep the ball for 36:53 and make Philadelphia defend full possessions instead of living off quick changes.
Our take: the clean team won comfortably
This was not a mystery result. Chicago was better in the possession battle, better in ball security and better at extending the game on its own terms. The Bears finished plus-three in turnovers, outgained the Eagles 375-248, ran 22 more plays and doubled Philadelphia in time of possession by nearly 14 minutes. A 20-point margin usually has a few roots; on this night, those were the biggest ones.
Philadelphia can point to one encouraging number: 107 rushing yards on only 19 attempts is efficient work, with Saquon Barkley producing 82 yards on 15 carries and Hurts adding 25 and the team’s only touchdown. But almost everything around that rushing efficiency went wrong. The Eagles converted just 2 of 9 third downs, went 0 for 2 on fourth down, committed 10 penalties for 61 yards and turned the ball over three times. Their interceptions were split between Hurts and Andy Dalton, and the lone lost fumble left even less room for recovery.
If the Bears want a sharper version of this same performance, the red zone is the obvious place to start. Chicago scored touchdowns on only 2 of 5 trips inside the 20 and settled twice for Santos field goals, which is one reason the game stayed within reach into the second half. For the Eagles, the to-do list is broader but plain enough from the box score: protect the football, stay out of long-yardage situations and find a way to convert efficient rushing into longer, cleaner drives. They also failed to record a sack or force a turnover, which meant Chicago rarely had to play from behind the chains.
