Pavel Zacha scored twice as the Boston Bruins beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday, with Boston winning for the third time in a row. The NHL game also featured contributions across Boston’s lineup, including goals from Justin Brazeau and Nick Robertson for Pittsburgh and multiple two-assist efforts from Boston playmakers as the Bruins took control after an early Penguins lead.

Pittsburgh struck first at 9:04 of the first period when Justin Brazeau scored on the Penguins’ first shot on goal. The goal came from a snap shot set up by Hendrix Lapierre below the goal line, with Brazeau scoring after lining up for a quick release in the right face-off circle, briefly dropping to one knee before shooting.

The Bruins then responded with three goals in a span of 6:50, seizing a 3-1 lead by late in the opening frame. Zacha tied the game 1-1 at 12:07, finishing a wrist shot over Arturs Silovs after a pass from David Pastrnak through the crease.

Mark Kastelic gave Boston a 2-1 lead at 15:04 with a deflection in the slot. The goal came on a point shot from Frederic Brunet, redirecting the puck into the net to extend the Bruins’ momentum.

Elias Lindholm made it 3-1 at 18:57 after intercepting a pass from Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson in Pittsburgh’s zone. Lindholm used a shot fake to freeze Silovs and slid a shot under the goalie’s glove, sending Boston into the intermission with a two-goal cushion.

In the second period, Nick Robertson cut Pittsburgh’s deficit to 3-2 at 7:57. Robertson redirected a shot from Kaedan Korczak for Robertson’s team-leading seventh goal, narrowing the gap as the Penguins continued to press.

Zacha answered again at 14:24 of the second to restore the Bruins’ advantage to two goals. He scored on a wrist shot off a pass from JJ Peterka during a 2-on-1, pushing Boston’s lead to 4-2 as the game entered the third period.

Morgan Geekie increased the separation at 16:57 in the second, extending Boston’s lead to 5-2. Geekie scored on a breakaway for his own wrist shot, taking a pass from Hampus Lindholm during a Pittsburgh line change and converting to make the margin larger heading into the final frame.

Early in the third period, Fraser Minten capped the scoring progression by putting the Bruins ahead 6-2 at 8:39. Minten scored with a snap shot on a 2-on-1, completing the play as the game reached its final minutes.

Between the goal updates, Boston’s goaltending and Pittsburgh’s defensive stands shaped the outcome. Michael DiPietro made 16 saves for the Bruins, while Arturs Silovs stopped 18 shots for the Penguins.

The game also included an early exit for one player. Bruins forward James Hagens left the game early in the third period after taking a crosscheck to the back from Penguins defenseman Samuel Girard.

With the win, Boston improved to a 12-4-1 record, and the Bruins have now won three straight and five of seven, according to the NHL game recap. Pittsburgh fell to 5-9-2 and extended its losing streak to four games, with the Penguins going 0-3-1 over their current slide.

The final 6-2 result continued a clear momentum shift after Pittsburgh’s first-period opening goal. After Brazeau put the Penguins ahead early, Boston built a multi-goal lead through Zacha, Kastelic, Lindholm, and later markers from Robertson, Geekie, and Minten to secure the decisive win at PPG Paints Arena.
