Penguins to feature twin rookies Liam and Markus Ruck in NHL preseason debut vs. Red Wings

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that twin brothers Liam and Markus Ruck will make their NHL preseason debuts in the team’s game against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday at PPG Paints Arena (7 p.m. ET; DSN, SN-PIT+).

The Penguins said Markus will play centre and Liam will play right wing, with both 18-year-old forwards expected to be on the same line.

Pittsburgh also tied the preseason matchup to its 2026 NHL Draft class, saying Liam was selected in the first round (No. 22) and Markus was taken in the second round (No. 39).

According to the team’s preview, captain Sidney Crosby is expected to be in the lineup against Detroit, and forward Evgeni Malkin will also play.

For Markus, the Penguins said he was given the chance to dress after an upper-body injury to forward Ville Koivunen created an opening.
