San Jose Sharks sign coach Ryan Warsofsky to multiyear contract

The San Jose Sharks announced Thursday that Ryan Warsofsky has signed a multiyear contract with the club. The 37-year-old was named coach on June 13, 2024, and the new agreement comes as he entered the final year of his previous contract. Warsofsky previously served as a Sharks assistant for two seasons before being promoted to head coach.

According to the Sharks, San Jose finished fifth in the Pacific Division last season with a record of 39-35-8 and 86 points, finishing four points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the second wild-card spot from the Western Conference into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team also posted improvements compared to 2024-25, when it finished last in the NHL standings.

The NHL.com report says the Sharks improved their offense under Warsofsky, moving to 16th in the league in goals per game (3.04) after ranking 2.54 in 2024-25. San Jose’s power play also advanced, going from 26th (18.6 percent) to 16th (21.2 percent).

San Jose’s regular-season schedule begins Oct. 1 against the Florida Panthers, the league release states.
