NHL.com releases Fantasy Hockey mock draft 2.0 results for the 2026-27 season

NHL.com has conducted its second Fantasy Hockey mock draft for the 2026-27 season, simulating a non-keeper format with standard scoring categories for skaters (goals, assists, power-play points, shots on goal, hits and blocked shots) and goalies (wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts). The mock uses a 16-player roster size—two centers, two left wings, two right wings, four defensemen, two goalies and four bench spots—and draws from 12 teams and 192 players. The results were compiled on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, and NHL.com notes the simulated picks differ from its NHL.com Fantasy top 250 rankings. The draft includes participation from NHL.com fantasy writers Pete Jensen, Chris Meaney and Troy Perlowitz, while the other teams were selected by fans and based on Yahoo Fantasy average draft position (ADP).

In the first round, Connor McDavid (EDM) went first in “mock draft 2.0,” followed by Nathan MacKinnon (COL) second and Macklin Celebrini (SJS) third. Nikita Kucherov (TBL) was selected fourth, with Leon Draisaitl (EDM) fifth and Cale Makar (COL) sixth. The remaining first-round picks included Jason Robertson (DAL), David Pastrnak (BOS), Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL), Kirill Kaprizov (MIN), Quinn Hughes (MIN) and Jack Hughes (NJD). NHL.com also highlighted how Kaprizov moved to 10th in this mock after going eighth in “mock 1.0,” and how Jack Hughes rounded out the first round after a different slot in mock 1.0.

Beyond the opening, the simulation continued through 192 selections. NHL.com’s notes include that Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was taken in the late second round in mock 1.0 but fell to the late fourth round in mock 2.0 after not reporting to training camp following his trade request, and that Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard was marked “INJ.” and expected to miss the start of the season. The draft also featured NHL.com’s commentary that no Calgary Flames players were selected in mock 2.0, despite Simon Nemec ranking 37th among defensemen in NHL.com’s rankings.
