Connor Hellebuyck suspended after not reporting to Winnipeg Jets training camp, NHL.com reports

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck did not report to training camp on Wednesday and has been suspended by the team, according to an NHL.com report. Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, had publicly confirmed earlier in the offseason that he requested a trade from Winnipeg after raising the matter with the organization.

In a statement released by his agent, Ray Petkau, Hellebuyck said, “With training camp approaching, I felt it was important to publicly confirm my request. My position has not changed.” He added that he believes “moving on is the best path forward for me and my family.”

Jets captain Adam Lowry told NHL.com on Sept. 8 that the club cannot spend time focused on Hellebuyck’s situation and instead must prepare for the season. Lowry also said that, while Hellebuyck remains a Jets player, the team will treat the situation as such and focus on readiness for camp.

NHL.com also noted that the Jets missed the postseason in 2025-26. Hellebuyck enters the third season of a seven-year, $59.5 million contract signed Oct. 9, 2023, and he is listed as a three-time Vezina Trophy winner (2019-20, 2023-24, 2024-25). The report states he previously helped the United States win gold at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
