IHIT says a jury in September 2026 found Gursimran Sahota guilty of first- and second-degree murder and ordered Tanvir Khakh acquitted in the death of Satindera Gill.

Two men have been convicted in connection with a double homicide at a Whistler hotel in 2022, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Tuesday.
IHIT said the Sea-to-Sky Whistler RCMP received reports shortly after noon on July 24, 2022, of two men being shot at a hotel on Sundial Crescent.
According to police, one victim died at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital and later died.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Meninder Dhaliwal and 28-year-old Satindera Gill, 36.
IHIT said officers then apprehended several people and found a burning vehicle on Ptarmigan Place near Blueberry Drive. Police said the vehicle had been involved in the shooting.
IHIT said Gursimran Sahota and Tanvir Khakh were charged with first-degree murder on the next day, July 25, 2022, and both have been in custody since their arrests.
IHIT reported that on Sept. 25, 2026, a jury found both men guilty of first-degree murder in relation to the killing of Dhaliwal.
The jury also found Sahota guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Gill, while the judge directed that Khakh be acquitted of Gill’s death.
IHIT said a conviction for first-degree murder carries an automatic life sentence, with a mandatory order that Sahota will have no eligibility for parole for 25 years.
IHIT added that the conviction for second-degree murder in Gill’s death also attracts a life sentence, and the jury recommended Sahota serve 20 years before being eligible to apply for parole.
IHIT said a sentencing hearing will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
