Big White Ski Resort in the Okanagan shared late-September photos indicating snow had arrived at its mountain, saying “snow is on the ground. The countdown is on.”
The resort’s posting also served as a preview of its ski season opening, set for Thursday, Nov. 26.
Big White describes itself as a family-owned and operated resort that has welcomed visitors since 1963 and offers ski-in/ski-out accommodations.
The resort says it has more than 2,765 acres of skiable terrain and promotes its night skiing offering as the largest in Western Canada.
A weather outlook included in the resort-related information cited Environment and Climate Change Canada probabilistic temperature and precipitation forecasts for the September-to-November 2026 period released late last month.
The forecast said that, broadly, September into October should be warmer with above-average temperatures, with below-normal precipitation and a chance of increased showers.
That outlook also referenced a return to warmer-than-normal conditions into October after a potential mid-October dip.
