The free Lumière Festival will run Nov. 12 to 14 from 5 to 9:30 p.m., with illuminated installations across the West End, downtown and Gastown.
The Story
Lumière Festival is set to return for its annual run this fall, bringing light-based projections and performances to three areas of Vancouver from Nov. 12 to 14.
Organizers say the free, family-friendly event will feature “light-based projections, accompanied by dynamic performances.” The festival will “transform the West End, Gastown and the city’s downtown core” as the city moves into fall darkness.
Shelley Hayashi, Lumière Festival Vancouver spokesperson, said in a statement: “Lumière brings people together through the transformative power of art and light. While reduced funding and rising costs mean the festival will look a little different this year, our commitment to accessible arts and culture remains strong. With the support of our partners, supporters and artists, Lumière continues to shine and inspire our community.”
The festival’s scheduled areas and locations are: West End, at Jim Deva Plaza and 1800 Davie Plaza; downtown Vancouver, at Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza and 800 Robson Plaza (Robson Square); and Gastown, at Blood Alley Square.
Lumière Festival takes place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at various locations across the West End, downtown Vancouver and Gastown, and admission is free.
