Abbotsford Police say a 48-year-old man has been charged after two residential break-and-enters were reported at rural properties last month.
The Story
Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with two residential break-and-enters at rural properties in September.
Police say officers were called on Sept. 3 to a home on Bradner Road, north of King Road, after reports that a suspect forcibly entered a home that was occupied at the time. AbbyPD says the suspect stole several valuable items before fleeing.
A second break-and-enter was reported on Sept. 14 at a home on Montesina Avenue, west of Lefeuvre Road, about two kilometres from the first incident site. Police say several valuable items were again stolen before the suspect fled.
Because of similarities between the incidents, investigators with AbbyPD’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) assumed conduct of both investigations, the department said. AbbyPD adds that CRU investigators identified a suspect believed to be responsible for both offences.
On Sept. 15, police say a search warrant was executed at a home on Fraser Highway near 272 Street in Aldergrove. AbbyPD says the suspect was arrested and police recovered property stolen during the break-and-enters.
Police say 48-year-old Bryan Barker has been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of disguise with intent.
