Two killed, two injured in Tsawwassen Mills parking-lot collision

Delta Police are investigating a fatal collision that struck four pedestrians. Police say it was unrelated to the nearby Truth and Reconciliation Walk.

The Story

Two people were killed and two others were taken to hospital after a vehicle struck four pedestrians in the Tsawwassen Mills parking lot on Wednesday morning.

Delta Police said the collision happened at approximately 10:25 a.m. on September 30. Paramedics treated the injured before taking them to hospital. Police have not released the victims’ identities or further details about the survivors’ conditions.

Investigators said preliminary information suggests the driver may have experienced a medical emergency before the collision. The cause remains under investigation; the possibility of a medical emergency has not been established as a final finding.

Police said the collision was unrelated to the Truth and Reconciliation Walk taking place on Tsawwassen First Nation lands. EmergencyInfoBC also confirmed there was no continuing danger to the public and advised people in the area to follow directions from police and local officials.

Tsawwassen First Nation expressed its sadness after the incident occurred during the day’s walk. In its initial statement, the Nation withheld further details out of respect for affected families and the emergency response. It thanked Delta Police, other responders and community members who helped.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411 and refer to file 26-18401.
