Air Canada will begin year-round, non-stop service between Vancouver International Airport and Guangzhou on May 4, 2027.
The Story
Air Canada has announced it will launch year-round, direct, non-stop flights between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Guangzhou, China, starting May 4, 2027.
The new route will operate three roundtrips per week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flights are scheduled to depart YVR at 12:35 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in Guangzhou at 5 a.m. the following day.
Return flights will leave Guangzhou’s airport at 9:45 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving in Vancouver at 6:30 a.m. the same day.
Depending on travel direction and wind conditions, the flights are expected to take approximately 12 to 14 hours.
The Guangzhou service will supplement China Southern Airlines’ existing year-round YVR route to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, which operates with up to five roundtrips per week.
In a statement, Vancouver International Airport CEO Tamara Vrooman said YVR connects Canada’s economy to global markets and that Air Canada’s service strengthens opportunities for the region.
YVR said passenger growth to Mainland China has been supported by renewed demand, including travellers connecting through Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), one of YVR’s highest-capacity overseas routes.
