Sports Page BC officially launched on October 15, bringing a digital-first sports media platform to British Columbia led by Scott Rintoul.
The Story
Sports Page BC officially launched on October 15, debuting a new province-wide digital sports media platform aimed at showcasing athletes, teams and sporting communities across British Columbia.
Veteran broadcaster and original Sports Page alumnus Scott Rintoul is leading the platform’s editorial direction, connecting the show’s legacy with what it describes as a new generation of athletes, creators and sports fans.
The new website is positioned as a digital home for original reporting, athlete profiles and community stories from across the province, with coverage intended to reach beyond traditional sports media’s usual focus on major professional teams.
In addition to stories from established British Columbia franchises such as the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions and Vancouver Whitecaps, Sports Page BC says it will also cover junior hockey, university and college athletics, high school sports, amateur leagues and emerging athletes.
Rintoul said one of the original Sports Page’s strengths was its focus on the broader sports community, adding: “Young athletes, local coaches, community builders, and hometown success stories all had a place.” He added that Sports Page BC “is built on that same spirit,” saying the platform aims to reflect young athletes across the province in the stories it tells.
The platform also says it is seeking contributions from across British Columbia, including writers, photographers, videographers, broadcasters and aspiring journalists, as well as athletes, coaches, schools, leagues and sports organizations willing to submit achievements, upcoming events and story ideas.
Sports Page BC is now live at sportspagebc.ca.
