Vancouver resident Seble G. says she plans family dinner after winning $1 million in the Sept. 9, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw.
The Story
A Vancouver lottery winner says a routine stop for an ice cream turned into a life-changing moment after she checked her ticket for the Sept. 9, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw and discovered she had won $1 million.
Seble G., who was in Agassiz at a convenience store when she purchased her ticket, said she stopped at a gas station to pick up a treat from Canco on Hot Springs Road and originally planned to move on with her day.
According to Seble, she only checked her Lotto 6/49 ticket after buying the ice cream, saying she “had to check again” to confirm the win. She described the moment as unreal and said she had forgotten why she was even at the store before realizing what the ticket meant.
Seble used the store’s self-scanner to double-check the result, then phoned her mother to share the news. She said her mother was happy for her, and that she plans to mark the windfall with dinner with her family.
When asked how she intends to handle the jackpot, Seble said she plans to keep playing for the next few years while also making plans for her family. She added that the prize is helping her feel “closer to buying a home.”
B.C. lottery players have recently reported other major wins, including a separate $1 million Ultra top-prize victory by a Port Coquitlam man who checked his scratched ticket at a convenience location on Coast Meridian Road before confirming the amount using a self-scanner. All lottery outcomes are based on chance, and gambling involves risk.
