Mission RCMP say officers found a duffel bag full of illegal guns during a traffic stop on Oct. 14.
The Story
Mission RCMP reported that officers from the Crime Reduction Unit located a large cache of guns after pulling over a car in Mission on Oct. 14.
Police said the traffic stop took place on Lougheed Highway near Wren Street after the car was exhibiting “suspicious behaviour.”
RCMP said the two men inside the vehicle were in their early 20s and were from the Cariboo area, and neither could explain why they were in Mission or where they were going.
Police said the men also told officers they did not know the contents of a large duffel bag in the backseat, but investigators found the bag was full of illegal guns.
RCMP said the guns and other items in the bag were seized, and police believe the items may have been stolen during a break and enter.
Both men were arrested for firearms-related offences and have since been released, and RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
Mission RCMP asked for the public’s help identifying the guns, directing people to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file #2026-13571.
