Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been charged with a Class 1 misdemeanour DUI tied to an arrest in March in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Story
Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been charged with driving under the influence stemming from an arrest in March in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to online court records.
The records indicate Brooks has a court date of Oct. 28 for the Class 1 misdemeanour charge.
Suns senior vice-president of communications Stacey Mitch said in a statement, “This charge stems from the incident last March,” adding, “We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment.”
Brooks, of Mississauga, Ont., was arrested during a traffic stop on March 6 at roughly 1 a.m., and after an investigation he was taken to jail, before being released following booking around 3:30 a.m.
At the time of the March arrest, the 30-year-old was out with a fractured left hand.
The evidence also says Brooks is facing separate misdemeanour reckless driving and speeding charges related to an arrest in January, with a court date of Nov. 9.
Brooks averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game last season and signed a $73 million, three-year extension in the off-season that keeps him with the team through 2030.
