Paul Cotter scored for the Vancouver Canucks in a 3–2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
The Story
The Vancouver Canucks fell to the Vegas Golden Knights 3–2 on Sunday, despite a goal from forward Paul Cotter.
Cotter opened the scoring, and Jonathan Lekkerimäki later tied the game for Vancouver. Victor Olofsson gave Vegas the lead with a power-play goal at 14:30 of the second period, before Marc Gatcomb scored the winner at 18:28 in the second.
After the loss, Cotter addressed critics of the team’s early-season form, saying, “For a team that everybody in the world said is going to be last in the league, we’re doing a lot of good things,” via local reporter Irfaan Gaffar.
Cotter has had a strong start to the 2026-27 season, scoring four goals in his first four games. Vancouver has begun the year 2-2-0, following a win described as “highly chaotic” over the Edmonton Oilers.
The defeat will be a setback for Vancouver, but the team will aim to build on its early efforts with a game on Wednesday against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.
