B.C. NDP Leader David Eby is set to make a health-care announcement at the Surrey Hospital construction site on Wednesday after announcing a $30-million expansion of Kelowna General Hospital on Tuesday.
The Story
Health care is staying at the centre of British Columbia’s election campaign as final voting day approaches.
NDP Leader David Eby announced a $30-million expansion of Kelowna General Hospital during a campaign stop in Kelowna on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026.
A day after the Kelowna announcement, Eby was scheduled to make another announcement at the Surrey Hospital construction site in the election-battleground city.
Both the B.C. NDP and B.C. Conservatives have released a series of health pledges, including plans to build new urgent and primary care facilities across the province.
The Conservatives have said health care is in crisis, citing that 1.2 million British Columbians lack a family doctor.
Conservative interim leader Lorne Doerkson has also focused on fundraising during the home stretch, with two events scheduled on Wednesday after five other events earlier in the past week.
Advance voting was set to close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2026.
Elections BC reported that about 711,000 people had voted in the first five days of early polling, down about 9 per cent compared with the first five days of advance voting in 2024.
