Vancouver Police say a paramedic was assaulted in the Downtown Eastside and suffered minor injuries before a suspect was arrested.
The Story
A paramedic suffered minor injuries after an assault in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside earlier this week, according to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
The VPD says the incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the paramedic was helping a patient in the area of West Hastings and Abbott streets.
Police allege a man approached and asked for water, then hit the paramedic on the head before fleeing.
Officers arrested a 27-year-old man about a block away, and police said they are recommending assault charges.
